Types of Air Conditioning for Your Home
There are many different types of air conditioning systems available for homes, with a wide choice of brands, styles and features. At KLAMS Group Ltd, we work with leading manufacturers such as Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Samsung, LG, Midea and more, allowing us to recommend the best system for your home, layout and budget.

Most domestic air conditioning systems fall into two main categories: Split Systems and Multi-Split Systems. These can be installed using different indoor unit styles, including Wall Mounted, Floor Mounted, Ceiling Mounted and Ducted options.

Split Systems – Ideal for Single Rooms
A Split System is made up of one Outdoor Unit and one Indoor Unit, designed to heat or cool a single room. The Indoor Unit can be wall mounted, ceiling mounted or ducted, depending on what suits the room best.

The Indoor and Outdoor Units are linked by discreet pipework and cabling, providing efficient and quiet performance. Split systems are a great solution for bedrooms, living rooms, home offices or extensions.

Multi-Split Systems – Comfort in Multiple Rooms
Multi-Split Systems use one Outdoor Unit to power multiple Indoor Units around the home, typically up to five. Each room can be controlled independently, allowing different temperatures in different spaces.

This type of system is ideal if you want air conditioning throughout your home but prefer to keep the number of outdoor units to a minimum.

Indoor Unit Styles
Both Split and Multi-Split systems can be paired with a range of Indoor Unit styles to suit your space:
-
Wall Mounted Units
The most popular option for homes, wall mounted units are installed high on the wall and provide excellent airflow around the room. Air direction, fan speed and temperature can be easily adjusted using a remote control, wall controller or mobile app. These systems offer Cooling, Heating, Dehumidifying and Fan Only modes, making them perfect for all-year-round comfort. -
Floor Mounted Units
Installed lower on the wall, floor mounted units are ideal where wall space is limited or a lower-level unit is preferred. They provide the same heating and cooling performance as wall mounted systems. -
Ceiling Mounted Units
Ceiling units can be surface mounted or recessed into a false ceiling, offering a neat and discreet appearance. They work in the same way as wall mounted units and are often chosen for open-plan spaces. -
Ducted Systems – Hidden Comfort
Ducted systems are installed out of sight, usually in a loft or ceiling void, and distribute air through vents or grilles in each room. This option is ideal if you want a clean, minimal look with even airflow throughout the home.

Zoned Ducted Systems – Total Control
Ducted systems can also be fitted with zoning, allowing different rooms or areas of your home to be controlled separately. Each zone can have its own controller, so everyone can enjoy their preferred temperature while improving comfort and energy efficiency.
